Pricing & Fare Transparency Policy
What goes into a NamCab fare, how surge works, and the promises we make about the price you see.

How a fare is built
Every on-demand fare is calculated the same way, for every rider:
- A base fare for the ride category, plus a per-kilometre rate for distance and a per-minute rate for time, plus any booking fee shown for the category.
- A minimum fare applies so short trips remain worthwhile for drivers.
- All amounts are in Namibian Dollars and include VAT at 15% — the price you see is the price you pay.
Our transparency promises
- You always see a fare estimate before you book.
- The final fare will never exceed 120% of that estimate unless you change the destination or add stops mid-trip.
- Transfers are fixed-price per route — the price shown is exactly what you pay, regardless of traffic.
- A full fare breakdown is available on every trip receipt in the app.
- When we change base rates, we announce the change in the app before it takes effect.
Surge pricing
At times of very high demand, a surge multiplier may apply so that more drivers come online and riders can still get a car. Where surge applies:
- the multiplier is shown to you before you confirm the booking — never added afterwards;
- the 120% cap still applies to the estimate you accepted;
- surge never applies to fixed-price transfers or Schoolpool subscriptions.
What drivers and providers earn
We publish our marketplace economics because fair, predictable earnings are part of fair pricing:
- Drivers keep 75% of every on-demand fare; NamCab’s service commission is 25%.
- Transfer providers keep 93% of each fixed-price transfer.
- Carpool, Churchpool and Schoolpool are cost-sharing services — NamCab charges a small facilitation fee shown at booking, not a commission on a commercial fare.
If the fare looks wrong
If your final fare exceeds the cap, doesn’t match the route you travelled, or a fee appears that was not shown at booking, raise a fare dispute — see the Refund & Cancellation Policy. Fare-calculation errors in our favour are refunded in full.
