Lost Property Policy
Left something in the car? Here is exactly how to get it back.
Last updated 8 July 2026
What to do first
- 1Report the lost item from the trip screen in the app (“Get help → Lost item”), or submit a support request with the trip details. The sooner you report, the higher the chance of recovery.
- 2We contact the driver and check whether the item was found.
- 3If found, we arrange a return: collection from the driver at an agreed public place, or a drop-off.
Return arrangements
- Returning an item takes a driver off the road, so a modest driver return fee — shown to you before you confirm the return trip — may apply for drop-offs. Collecting the item yourself is always free.
- Valuable items (phones, wallets, documents) should be described before handover so we can confirm the right owner.
- Unclaimed found items are logged and held; items unclaimed after 30 days may be handed to the Namibian Police as found property.
What we can and cannot do
- We can trace the exact vehicle and driver for every trip — this is usually decisive.
- We cannot guarantee recovery, and NamCab does not insure personal belongings left in vehicles.
- Drivers who find items are expected to report them promptly; keeping a rider’s property is treated as a conduct violation.
